Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s BJP Chief, PS Sreedharan Pillai, now finds himself in a bind after reports of him claiming the Sabarimala issue as a ‘golden opportunity’ for the party in a purported audio clip has been found.
In the clip, Pillai can be heard claiming that the chief priest of Sabarimala Temple had consulted him over the case of closing doors of the sanctum sanctorum if women tried to enter the shrine. Since then the clip has gone viral and has been recognized as Pillai’s alleged address to the Yuva Morcha state committee in Kozhikode.
In his address, he said that the chief priest Kandararu Rajeevaru was very apprehensive about shutting the doors of the temple as he was fearful of the backlash he would receive from the court but had decided to go ahead with the plan anyway as he was reassured by him.
Once the clip went viral, Pillai stated that he was only providing legal opinions to the chief as a political leader but refused to comment on the use of his phrase ‘golden opportunity’.
