New Delhi: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the coastal town of Mahabalipuram for his summit meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he used his down-time to plog (clearing litter and other waste while walking or jogging).
During his visit to the coastal town, Modi had released a three-minute video of his plog, urging the people to ensure that public places are clean and tidy.
Many who saw the video were very curious about a stick-like object seen in the PM’s hands while he was on the beach. Today, PM Modi clarified that the object in his hands is an acupressure roller he often uses.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for a clean India has been the flagship programme of his government since he took charge in 2014 and it has won him praise from all over the world. Modi praised India’s first plogger Ripudaman Belvi, who launched the first ‘plogging’ campaign to clear litter when jogging. Plogging, while normal in many countries, is only starting to pick up in India.
