New Delhi: One of the deadliest terrorist attacks on the armed forces, which took place on Thursday, claimed the lives of more than 40 soldiers.

Reportedly, Adil Ahmad Dar, the Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber, detonated around 60 kg of powerful RDX right next to the CRPF convoy, and the impact of the explosion was so intense that a body was flung 80 metres away. Human remains were scattered across a 100-metre stretch from the spot of the bomb blast and the CRPF bus was blown to tatters.

Earlier, the investigators had said that Adil had rammed into the CRPF bus with an SUV carrying 350 kg of explosives. However, it now seems that Adil was driving a sedan, and he did not ram into the bus but detonated the explosives right next to it.

It still remains a question as to how the terrorist managed to access the highway inspite of security measures taken hours before the CRPF convoy. The attack indicates months of planning by terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed. Investigations are on in the matter.

Masood Azhar, founder and leader of the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed still roams freely in Pakistan.
