Bengaluru: The much-awaited meeting between JD(S) second in-command and chief minister-elect HD Kumaraswamy and AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi took place on Tuesday, following which, HDK said that everything will be worked out cordially to keep the coalition government working smoothly.
“There is no bargain. We will work cordially and we must work together,” said HDK after 20 minute talk with the Gandhis in national capital.
With news making rounds that the coalition partners are already fighting over posts of Deputy CM and Speaker, HDK said that Rahul Gandhi has cleared the modalities and has asked Karnataka general secretary KC Venugopal to handle things from their end. “Local leaders and Venugopal will sit together tomorrow to finalise things,” HDK said.
He also met BSP chief Mayawati earlier in the day. Sources told PTI that the discussions between the two largely revolved around the role regional parties could play to stop the BJP from returning to power in the next Lok Sabha polls.
“I came to pay my respects to her (Mayawati) because we are pre-poll alliance partners. It was just a cordial meet,” he said later.
RaGa to attend swearing-in
After meeting HDK, Rahul Gandhi confirmed on twitter that he will be attending Kumaraswamy’s swearing-in ceremony.
“I had a warm and cordial meeting this evening, in Delhi, with Shri H D Kumaraswamy ji. We discussed the political situation in Karnataka and other matters of mutual interest. I will be attending his swearing in as CM of Karnataka, on Wednesday, in Bengaluru,” Rahul said on Twitter.
