Happy birthday, Thalaiva! Tweeple wishes \'youth icon\' Modi-1New Delhi: Twitterati on Tuesday celebrated the 69th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their own style, some praying for his good health and praising his exemplary leadership skills, others dedicating songs, creating memes and GIFs and sharing his memorable photos and videos.

Modi began the day with a visit to the Statue of Unity and the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat. The Statue of Unity was inaugurated by him on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary on October 31 last year.

"Alibaba founder Jack Ma says he was inspired by Modi. Leaving a mark on entrepreneurs, PM Modi indeed scripted a story that motivates most of us," tweeted one user.

"Happy bday Thalaiva.. @narendramodi," tweeted another.

His supporters and fans flooded the social media with their best wishes as several hashtags circulated on the micro-blogging platform.

"Prayers for ur good health and long life in service of the nation".

"We are safe in India because of you," said a Twitter user.

"Your vision for a healthier and cleaner India is an inspiration for all. May you always be blessed with good health in life,a said another.

"A Man with clear aVision', a man with specific amission', is here for a "reason," said another.

Another posted: "A man with white hair and white beard having more fans than superstars with 8 pack abs. A man who made politics more interesting than cricket and Bollywood in the country. A 69-year-old "youth icon".

Last year, PM Modi celebrated his birthday by spending time with schoolchildren in Varanasi.

"He won't celebrate his Bday in private jets & Indian Navy ships like other politicians. Spiritual Mahan's always think about others and love to giving away. PM releases butterflies at the Butterfly park in Gujarat," posted another user.

Another said: "Wishing our rockstar a very happy birthday!

"From weakness to strength, you have been an inspiration to us. The knowledge you have imparted upon India has been a great asset. You are a true example of a living legend," said another Twitter user.

Several Twitter hashtags made it to the top India trends on the micro-blogging site. While #happybirthdaynarendramodi topped the chart in India, the other hashtags were #HappyBirthdayPM and #ShriNarendraModi.

The other hashtags doing the rounds along with birthday greetings to the Prime Minister were: #HappyBDayPMModi, #NarendraModiBirthday, #HappyBirthdayPMModi, #HBDModi and #HappyBirthdayModi.

Former athlete PT Usha tweeted: "Wishing you a very happy birthday, Shri @narendramodi ji. Sports, just like other fields has grown tremendously under your leadership. May god bless you with a long and healthy life! #HappyBirthdayPM."

Sand artiste Sudarshan Pattnaik tweeted with a picture of a sand sculpture he had made greeting the Prime Minister. He wrote: "Happy Birthday Hon'ble PM Modi ji. My sand art with message: 'Millions of blessings' with you for #NewIndia, at #Puri beach. #SwachhataHiSeva #JalShaktiAbhiyan #SayNoToSingleUsePlastic #PoshanMaah2019."

While leaders across the political spectrum wished PM on his birthday, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated this day at India Gate with a massive cake having 370 and 35 A written on it.

The party workers led by the state president Manoj Tiwari assembled at the India Gate lawns on Tuesday night.
Waving party flags and placards, the workers raised slogans hailing the Prime Minister. A birthday cake shaped in the form of a massive 'laddo' having 370 and 35 A written in bold letters was cut and distributed.

During the celebration, Tiwari told media: "It is a day of celebration when a child was born to serve the nation in the house of Damodar Das ji. Today, it is his birthday and we are celebrating it with respect and fervor." "It is a wish of the entire nation that Prime Minister Modi serves the country for a very long time," he added.
