Bareilly: In what may come as an evident incident of ‘hate crime’, a drunk cop not only thrashed a Madrasa teacher but also hurled abuses at the cleric, even calling him a ‘terrorist’.

According to reports, a drunk constable travelling on Nainital Express from Pilibhit to Moradabad first picked a quarrel with a cleric identified as Rizwan Ahmed.

With resistance from the cleric, the cop insisted that the cleric showed him his ID card to prove his nationality. When the cleric could not produce the document, the irked cop did not just thrash him but also called him a ‘terrorist’ adding that the cleric be put behind bars.

The inebriated cop crossed all limits when he threw the cleric out of the train at Izzat Nagar station near Bareilly.

Superintendent of police for Railways Vaibhav Krishna has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
