DMK’s Executive Committee to meet on Aug 14

Chennai: The DMK party on Friday announced that an urgent meeting of its Executive Committee will be held on August 14, chaired by Working President M.K. Stalin.

In a statement issued here, the party said the meeting was called to pass a resolution condoling the death of party President and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

The five-time Chief Minister, who was 94, died at a private hospital here on Tuesday due to age-related ailments.

The party has directed all the Committee members to attend the meeting without fail.

The meeting may also discuss the date to convene the party’s General Council meeting to choose the DMK President.

DMK party officials said Stalin will be elevated at the General Council meeting as the party President.
