DKShi posts video message from ED custody

Bengaluru: Political vendetta has become stronger than the law in India, said Karnataka Congress leader D K Shivakumar in a video message that was posted on Twitter. A court allowed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to retain custody of Shivakumar for ten days in connection with a money laundering case on Wednesday, September 4.

The video was posted through Shivakumar’s official twitter account and shows him leaning back in a chair with a policeman standing in the background.

Earlier, Shivakumar’s counsel had requested the court to allow him to address the people of Karnataka. The video seems to have been posted just hours after Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar denied the request.

After raiding over 60 properties belonging to DKShi and others last year, ED officials claimed to have recovered over Rs 300 crores in undisclosed income. A money laundering case was subsequently filed against the Congress leader by the probe agency.

The MLA’s arrest on Tuesday sparked statewide protests by Congress party workers and witnessed many party leaders terming the action as “politically motivated.”
