New Delhi: Migrant workers living in far away places are doing all that it takes to reach their native places amidst the lockdown.
While some were fortunate enough to get a place in trains and other transport facilities organised by the government, many have lost lives after deciding to walk to their villages.
However, here in Delhi, ten workers hailing from Bihar call themselves the luckiest because their employer bought them air tickets to reach to their village.
Pappan Gehlot runs a mushroom farm at Tigipur and ten of his workers had stayed with him through thick and thin over the last 20 years.
When the time came to show them gratitude for their hardwork and dedicated, Gehlot did something worthwhile.
He spent Rs 68,000 on their air tickets and also gave workers Rs 3,000 each for their other expenses.
Gehlot’s family member told ANI news agency that they did try to book train tickets, but when they could not find any, they booked flight tickets for the ten workers.
“We wanted their journey to be safe,’ Pappan’s brother Niranjan Gehlot told ANI.
The workers, all of whom hail from Samasthipura said that they were happy that they were not forced to walk or cycle back home.
“It is a dream come true to travel by plane,” said one of the workers who reached Patna at 6 am on Thursday.
