Death of 13 kids: Yogi asks protesters to stop their ‘drama’

Gorakhpur: Crisis management does not seem to be a skill available to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as he lost his cool during a protest that followed the deaths of 13 children at an unmanned railway crossing.

In a less than eloquent manner, CM Yogi ordered the protesters, who were gathered in Kushinagar, to “stop this nautanki (drama)” after he failed to calm them down and convince them to stop raising slogans.

“Stop raising these slogans”, CM Yogi ordered the protesters over a portable public address system (PAS), who were not deterred by him and continued to chant their slogans, questioning the lapses on part of the railway authorities and the state government. After he failed to calm the protesters, Yogi demanded that they cease, terming their protests as a “nautanki” and asked them to sympathise with the families of the victims.

The children, most of whom were aged below 10 years, met their unfortunate end when the van they were plying in was crossing the unmanned railway crossing in the early hours of April 6. Reportedly, the van stalled on the tracks when a train rammed into it, killing 13 of the 25 children on board.
