New Delhi: Little did you know that the currency notes that we use for daily transactions can spread life-threatening diseases. The Confederation of All India Traders’ has requested Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, in a plea, to ensure that an extensive study is conducted in this direction.
The Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGB) has published an article in an international journal stating that around 78 microscopic bodies have been found on the notes.
Microbiologists of Tirunelveli Medical College conducted a research on the same and found a startling 86.4 percent of 120 sample notes to be potential carriers of disease.
Ailments such as urinary tract infection, fever, stomach ache, tonsillitis, throat infection, are listed as possible health issues that can be carried through the notes that get in contact with carriers through a cough, sneeze etc.
Most of the ailments are said to be produced by the transaction in market places and 92 percent from the American currency, which has traces of cocaine.
