New Delhi: A Congress spokesperson from the Telangana state reportedly set fire to the party’s flags, posters, banners and various other materials on Sunday, after he was denied a ticket in the Lok Sabha elections. He damaged Rs 15 lakh worth of publicity material before resigning from the party and has now reportedly joined the ruling party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
A video of the enraged party leader lashing out at TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy for denying him the ticket went viral. In the video, he also blamed Reddy for the party’s defeat.
According to Manne Krishank, the miffed Dalit leader, he was promised a party ticket to contest from Peddapalli, a constituency reserved for the Scheduled Caste.
He added that he had spent a lot of money on various publicity material for the campaign and was shocked when the ticket was given to A Chandrasekhar instead.
What came as a huge blow to the leader is the fact that Chandrasekhar was suspended from the Congress party for contesting as a rebel during the December 7 Assembly elections. According to Krishank, the suspension was rescinded the previous week and two days later, he was given the ticket to contest from Peddapalli.
Enraged by the perceived betrayal, Krishank met with the TRS working president, KT Rama Rao on Monday and joined them.
