Kasargod: Regarding the Sabarimala controversy, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had chaired a meeting with the Kerala Minister for Co-Operation, Tourism and Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran in Kanhangad Guest House, here on Tuesday, November 20.
Soon the meeting turned into a verbal war between the Devaswom minister and the BJP leaders.
When the situation turned volatile, the police took the BJP District President K Srikanth along with eight of the part workers into custody.
The incident took place during the valedictory programme of the state level co-operative week.
As the Devaswom minister had granted permission to Srikanth and all the other party workers for a meet and discussion regarding the entry of women into the Sabarimala sanctum, all the people concerned had gathered there.
The situation is said to have worsened when a verbal spat began between Srikanth and Kadakampally Surendran (Devaswom minister). All the party workers then began chanting Lord Ayyappa’s name, due to which the police immediately took them into custody.
The other leaders detained include A Velayudhan, Sudhama Gosada, N Babu Raj, Rajesh, Pradeep and several others.
