New Delhi: After having raised controversy recently for attending Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony as Pakistan’s new Prime Minister, former cricketer and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has expressed his love for Pakistan while at the same time, trampling on his fellow countrymen down south.
Expressing his admiration for the neighbouring country, Sidhu said that visiting Pakistan was better than going to South India, as he has trouble with the “language and food”. While on the topic, Sidhu said that he did not regret Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa at Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony- a gesture that had drawn serious flack and criticism from across the country.
Sidhu was speaking at the first edition of Kasauli Literature Festival here when he made these comments. “When I go to South India, I cannot understand a word, except for a few like ‘vadakkam’. I am okay with the food there…..but I cannot have the South Indian cuisine for long,” he said, adding that he could relate to Pakistan more as they speak Punjabi and English.
