Narendra Modi addresses BJP MPs almost every week, but today’s address is significantly more important, as the party suffered a massive setback in the recent assembly elections since it assumed power in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost power in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan to the Congress. The defeat in these three states has come as a major drawback to the party.

The BJP had 5 seats in Telangana before the assembly election and has come down to one seat. Even in Mizoram, the party managed to win just one seat.

In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP had won 282 seats out of the total 543, and the lose in the recent assembly elections has come as a major matter of concern to the party.

PM Modi in his address today is expected to talk about the election results and the possible reasons for its defeat in all 5 states. He is also expected to discuss things relating to the party’s campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

As per official sources, BJP president Amit Shah is expected to take charge of a meeting with its national office-bearers, state unit presidents and those looking after the organisational affairs. The meeting is scheduled to start in the afternoon. Sources say, that Amit Shah is expected to obtain feedback from party leaders on a host of organisational issues.
