New Delhi: A senior official of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in south Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar, police said on Saturday, September 15. The victim was employed at an Aadhaar office situated near Pragati Maidan metro station, according to the police.

The police have registered a case at the Sarojini Nagar Police station based on her statement.

In her statement to police, the woman alleged that the accused called her to his residence in Sarojini Nagar on September 10 and sexually assaulted her.

When she resisted, he threatened her, a police official said, adding that the victim alleged the accused was alone in the house at the time of the incident.

He also said that the police began an investigation into the allegations after recording the victim’s statement.

The case has been transferred to the crime branch.

The police are probing all possible angles, including the authenticity of the allegations against the accused as since they learned that the victim was removed from work the same day the alleged incident took place.

The investigation is still underway.
