Guwahati: Shivangini Gohain, an archer from Assam, was airlifted to the national capital on Thursday, January 9, after an arrow accidentally pierced through her shoulder during a practice session in Dibrugarh.

The incident took place during a regular training session at Chabua in Assam’s Dibrugarh district. She is currently being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) is bearing all medical expenses.

However, Gohain is an SAI trainee and was not part of the Khelo India Youth Games that are scheduled to begin on Friday, January 10.

“The archer who met with an accident in Dibrugarh has been airlifted to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. SAI is bearing all the expenses of her treatment, including air travel. A senior SAI official has been detailed to ensure that she gets the best treatment without any problem,” an SAI official said.
