Colorado Springs: With just a few days left before his visit to India, US President Donald Trump has claimed that now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has told him that 10 million (1 crore) people will turn up when he lands in Ahmedabad. The POTUS has made this claim even though the Ahmedabad municipal body has given a much lower estimate.

When Trump lands in India on February 24, he, along with PM Modi, will travel on a 22-km long road in Ahmedabad.

According to a report by NDTV, during a recent re-election campaign rally in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Trump said, “I hear they’re going to have 10 million people. They say anywhere from six to 10 million people are going to be showing up along the route to one of the largest stadiums in the world, the largest cricket stadium in the world.”

This is in contradiction to the estimates given by the Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner, who, on Thursday, said that around one lakh people are expected to line up to greet President Trump.

It can be recalled that earlier, Trump had told the media that PM Modi had informed him that around 7 million (70 lakh) people would be present to greet him when he lands in India.

After this announcement was made, many on social media pointed out that the population of Ahmedabad, the largest city on Gujarat, has a population of 70 to 80 lakhs.

The POTUS and first lady, Melania Trump, are scheduled to arrive in India on February 24 for a two-day visit. The Trumps will be travelling to Ahmedabad, Agra and New Delhi. The US President is scheduled to address a “Namaste Trump” event, along with PM Modi, in Ahmedabad at the newly-built Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel cricket stadium in Motera, the world’s largest cricket stadium.
