India won the match but this couple won people’s hearts!

match coupleManchester: There are some of us who turn cricket into a battlefield and make the game more divisive than it needs to be, especially when it comes to matches between India and Pakistan.

During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, however, there were two examples of unity in a sea of division- one being popular cricketer Chris Gayle and the other being a couple from Canada. The happy couple came to witness the match in Manchester wearing matching jerseys. The unique feature of their custom made jerseys is that one half was on Indian jersey and the other half was that of the Pakistan team. The two teams’ jerseys were cut in half and stitched together.

An image of the couple was shared on Twitter by London-based Lakshmi Kaul. “Spotted this couple at the #IndiaVsPakistan @cricketworldcup game and was intrigued by their jerseys! Husband is from Pakistan, wife from India so both stitched up India-Pak jerseys & wore them! Both are Canadians, watching the game in England, rooting for peace #SpiritofCricket, (sic)” she wrote in the caption.

The image of the couple went viral on Twitter mere hours after it was posted. While India won the match, we all can agree that this couple won people’s hearts.
