Pakistan: In a bizarre directive, lawmakers in Pakistan have been asked to refrain from using the word “selected” in reference to the country’s Prime Minister Imran Khan. According to Pakistani media reports, attributing this word to the Prime Minister was an insult not just to Imran but to the entire National Assembly of Pakistan, said the Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri.

It was reported that during the opening session of the National Assembly in the year 2018, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had referred to Imran Khan as a “selected” Prime Minister. After this, leaders of most of the opposition parties started referring to Imran Khan as “selected Prime Minister”.

The word was also circulated widely on social media platforms, with hashtag #SelectedPM . While many mocked Imran Khan using the hashtag, there were several others who supported him with the positive outlook that he was indeed “selected” by the people of Pakistan.

On Sunday, National Assembly Deputy Speaker issued an order to refrain from using the word “selected” by lawmakers with refrence to Imran Khan.
