Davos: Responding to reports that Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman got the phone of Amazon owner Jeff Bezos hacked, the Saudi Foreign Minister Arabia said that it was “absurd”.
Speaking to Reuters at the World Economic Forum meeting at Davos, Prince Faisal Al Saud said, “Absurd is the right word. The idea that the Crown Prince would hack Jeff Bezos’ phone is silly.”
Minister Prince Faisal then added that the matter would be investigated if substantiating evidence of the claims were provided.
It can be recalled that the UK newspaper, The Guardian had claimed that Saudi Crown Prince MbS had gotten Bezos’ phone hacked. The paper, however, stated that it is not known what was extracted from the Amazon owner’s phone or how it was used. It only claimed that “large amounts of data were exfiltrated from Bezos’ phone within hours”.
According to the report, Bezos’ phone got hacked after he received a WhatsApp message “apparently been sent from the personal account of the crown prince”.
