Udupi: Udupi district Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha positively responded to an open letter written by a woman, whose son succumbed to a heart attack while travelling in a private bus between Bengaluru and Kundapur. In her letter, the aggrieved mother had alleged that her son died due to the negligence of the bus conductor.
Responding to the letter, the DC instructed the woman to write a written complaint to the police and assured her that action would be taken against the bus conductor, if he is found guilty.
Suhas, son of Shridhar Murthy and Suma Mayya and native of Kundapur taluk's Balkur area, was in the 4th year of his engineer degree in Bengaluru. As he wanted to return to his hometown on March 7, he boarded at a private bus run by Durgamba, which plies between Bengaluru and Kundapur.
According to his mother Suma Mayya, Suhas had chest pains during his journey from Bengaluru to Kundapur and informed the bus conductor of the same. However, the bus conductor allegedly neither took him to a hospital nor did he take any measures to help him. As no one, including bus conductor, intervened, Suhas died in the bus.
Alleging negligence by the bus conductor, Suma Mayya posted an open letter on social media, addressed to Deputy Commissioner of the district, G Jagadeesha and sought strict action. She blamed his negligence for her son's death and expressed how she did not want anyone else to go through her experience.
