Udupi: In relation to the drinking water issue in the city, soon a meeting will be held with the officers of Udupi City Municipal Council, said Hepshiba Rani Korlapati, Deputy Commissioner of the district.
Speaking to media persons, the DC said that she had met the CMC officials last week and they had informed that the water at Baje dam would be sufficient for 15 days. She said that a meeting will now be held to chalk out a water rationing plan and further steps to be taken. She opined that since water rationing was not implemented efficiently, the water issue has become a challenge.
Further, with regard to desilting of the water sources, the DC said that full-fledged operations could not be taken up due to limited resources, however, desilting works would be completed before the onset of the monsoon.
Talking about sand mining, the DC said that a meeting will be held in this regard on Thursday with the officials and others concerned.
