Udupi: Two persons were killed and another seriously injured in a gruesome accident that took place after the driver of a tipper truck lost control of his vehicle. The truck overturned on National Highway 66 on K G Road, Uppoor on Friday, June 21.
The deceased have been identified as Kumar, resident of Bhatkal and Nagaraj Ganiga of Kundapur. The injured has been identified as Raghavendra.
Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC and opposition leader in Karnataka Legislative Council, who was on his way to attend the ‘International Yoga Day’ programme at Udupi, stopped his vehicle after witnessing the accident and immediately called the Brahmavar Police and ambulance. He helped the injured person to be sent to a private hospital by ambulance.
The Brahmavar police said that the tipper truck was on its way to Udupi and the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossing the road divider due to which the truck overturned.
