Udupi: A migrant labourer from Bihar committed suicide by drowning in the Swarna river, near Kamblathotta, Kemmannu on Sunday, October 15 evening.
The search for the body went in vain due to bad lighting, however, his body surfaced on Monday afternoon, a few meters away from where he jumped.
Local leader and social worker, Veronica Cornelio informed the Malpe Police about the same and the body was fished out and taken to the government hospital for a post mortem.
In a second similar case, Dikshith Shetty (26), from Bannanje, Udupi committed suicide by into the Swarna river at around 10.30 pm on Sunday, from the Kallianpur, Santhekatte bridge on the national highway. He reportedly parked his bike and left his mobile phone before jumping into the river.
Dikshith reportedly worked at a local petrol pump.
Locals found his body after it surfaced, and immediately informed the police. The body was then fished out and taken to the government hospital for a post mortem.
