Udupi: The ‘International Day against Drug Abuse’ was organized by the Information department, Karnataka State Madyapana Samyama Mandali, Bangalore and Rotary Club-Manipal-Udupi at the Madhav Pai Memorial College, Manipal on Thursday June 26.
Observing the occasion, DC Dr Muddumohan addressed the gathering. He stated that, the Indian constitution has a limit on drug ban instead awareness works in a better way.
In his message to the youth he said that, taking drug is not a need of life, it is just a luxury. Consumption of drugs harms, physical and mental stability, it is not a personal issue but an issue related to the society as a whole.
He added that Manipal is an education center; it has a name of using drugs in large numbers. He appealed to the students to help themselves and the city to come out of the black mark.
It is generally drugs are linked with youth; however adults are also equally responsible. The lifestyle leads to consume drugs. Most of the time drugs are consumed because of fascination towards it.
Dr Prabhudev Mane, DySP Udupi in his message said just throw out the social evil named drugs. He appealed the students to be responsible citizens. Make use of weekends for healthy things rather than getting addicted to drugs that leads nothing more than crimes and accidents. ‘Don’t be a victim’, he asserted.
