Udupi: In a simple ceremony held here, Anirudh Saralattaya, the successor to the Shiroor Matha, was ordained as a seer on Thursday May 13. As a seer he will be known as Sri Vedavardhana Theertha.
Chief Seer of the Sode Vadiraja Matha, Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha performed the Pranava Mantropadesha and the Kalashabhishekha as part of the ordination ritual.
The rituals such as Viraja Homa, Shakala Homa, and Praishochharane were held.
Since Late Lakshmivara Tirtha had not named a successor, Sode Matha, Shirur Mutt’s dwandva matha, was entrusted with the task of selecting a seer for the latter. “Naming a teenager as the heir to Ashta Mutts in Udupi is a practice that is followed in the Shastras recommendations,” said Sode Matha seer Sri Vishwavallabha Tirtha.
