Mysuru: N R Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD Mysore, has been appointed for the EPAS Accreditation Board by European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). He is the only member from India on the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) Board. The other three are from Switzerland, Tunisia and Uruguay. EPAS is an international programme accreditation system operated by the EFMD which has 900 member organisations and is based in Brussels with offices in Asia and the Americas.

The appointment is in recognition of the high standards that SDMIMD is maintaining throughout. The primary focus of the EFMD EPAS Board is to consider whether a programme meets the prescribed standards by evaluating the proposals along with peer review reports presented to the Board for approval of accreditation status.

Sharing his views on his appointment to EPAS Accreditation Board, Parasuraman said, “I feel it is a great honour to have been included in this elite board of an elite accreditation agency. It is, in my opinion, a vindication of what SDMIMD has achieved and what it stands for. We were the first to get EPAS accreditation in India and have been working hard to measure up to the international standards ever since. It really is a special feeling to be the first from India to be appointed to the accreditation board.”

EPAS is a service for EFMD members and is based on the same process as EQUIS and covers the full range of academic programmes from the Bachelors to the Doctoral level. EFMD is an international, not-for-profit, membership organisation of business schools and corporations, based in Brussels, Belgium, with offices in Asia and the Americas. It is recognised globally as an accreditation body for quality and impact assessment in management with established accreditation services for business schools and business school programmes, corporate universities and online courses. EFMD has nearly 900 member organisations from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 88 countries.
