Udupi: On Tuesday May 18 morning, when RJ Eroll through a Whatsapp group found out that 13 students from West Bengal were Struggling in Barkur in their college hostel without proper provisions to feed themselves, he immediately contacted the officials to alert them.
“There was a screenshot shot posted in the groip that had information which said that 7 out of the 13 students are covid positive and that they did not have any provisions other than rice which is finishing up,” RJ Eroll told News Karnataka.
He immediately contacted the Udupi Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadeesha and MLA Ragupathi Bhat to explain about the situation. The officials contacted Tahsildar of Brahmavar who immediately went to the location and provided the students with the groceries and the gas cylinders. Proviison to last them for 10 days were provided to the students who were scared and tensed and upon seeing the officials, calmed down.
RJ Eroll stated that he really appreciated the quick and effective action of the administration which has helped to solve the matter within hours.
