Udupi/Bengaluru: Shri Vishwaprasanna Thirta seer of the Pejawara mutt in Udupi, has now been given Y category security.
This means the pontiff will henceforth be provided with round-the-clock armed police protection apart from a police escort during his travels.
A decision in this regard was taken by the state government as the seer is now part of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra which is has been given the of monitoring the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
A request to provide the seer with the security was made by Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat as the former has been travelling a lot.
Presently, the seer is on a country-wide tour to mobilise funds for the construction of the proposed Ram Mandir.
