No toll collection without completion of flyover: Shobha Karandlaje

Udupi: Work on the National Highway should be completed in a timely manner, said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje while adding that road work at Padubidri and Shastri Circle flyover were scheduled to be completed by March 31. She further stated that toll charges would not be collected if the deadline is not maintained.

Karandlaje was speaking during the “Desha meeting” held at the Dr. V.S. Acharya Auditorium in Manipal on Wednesday, January 29.

She also urged the NHAI Officers to expedite the land acquisition process in the Malpe-Theerthahalli National Highway project and complete the highway work before the monsoon season. Responding to this, NHAI officials said that the Padubidri and Shastri Circle flyover work will be completed by the end of April. She advised officials to add those contract companies that delay the work on a blacklist.

On the issue of the Kendriya Vidyalaya construction without getting the permission from the forest department, Karandlaje instructed the officials to get permission as soon as possible in consultation with Forest Department officials. She directed the district officials to issue a showcause notice to all the departments who did not attend the meeting each time.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Planning Officer Srinivas Rao informed the gathering that a cashless service has been 100% implemented under the pilot scheme at Kadurur Gram Panchayat. The service has been extended to 15 Gram Panchayats and all Gram Panchayats in the district will offer a cashless service in the near future.

The MP was informed by the DC that the KSRTC bus route and timetable schedule should be changed. She told him to convene a meeting of RTO officials and consult with them. Karandlaje also gave a clear mandate to appoint a team of government doctors at the Women and Children’s Hospital in order to treat the poor.

Over 1,40,371 farmers have registered for the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Sanman Scheme. Rs 17,39,000 has been distributed to 1192 farmers for compensation of yield loss due to monsoon flooding, said Agriculture Joint Director Kempegowda.

The meeting was attended by District Panchayat President Dinakar Babu, Udupi Taluk Panchayat Chairperson Nita Gururaj Poojary, District Collector G Jagadish, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Preethi Gehlot, and officials of various departments.
