Udupi: In a shocking incident, three masked men broke into a house in Santhekatte, Kallianpur in broad daylight on Saturday, August 17, and robbed the occupants of their valuables.
The house, located behind the Ashirvad Bar and Restaurant, belongs to Firdous (38).
The three men reportedly broke into the house at around 11.30 AM on Saturday and attacked Firdous and her mother-in-law (80), whose screams alerted the neighbours. In the commotion following this, the robbers fled from the scene with their loot including gold, cash and other valuables.
Firdous and her mother-in-law were found by her daughter, who returned home from school at 1 PM. Firdous then informed her husband about the incident.
As she and her mother-in-law were injured in the attack, they were rushed to the Adarsh Hospital in Udupi.
A complaint was lodged with the Udupi Town Police and an investigation is underway.
The police rushed to the spot along with forensic experts and a dog squad who scoured the crime scene for clues.
Udupi City Circle inspector Manjunath and CPI Padmanabh also visited the crime scene.
