Udupi: A 35 year old man committed suicide by jumping into the river from Udyavar Bridge at NH 66, on Thusday, April 25.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Ameen (35), a resident of Udyavara who was an active BJP leader.
According to sources, Ashok who left home early in the morning, stopped his motor bike near the bridge and jumped into the river. Some people witnessed the incident and immediately informed to Kaup police. The police and locals conducted a joint search operation and recovered the body which was later sent for post-mortem.
Reportedly, Ashok was depressed due to acute financial problems. A case has been registered in the Kaup Police Station.
