Udupi: Deputy Commissioner Hepsiba Rani Korlapati urged the vote counting agents to follow the instructions given by the district administration during the vote counting in Udupi–Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency on May 23.
The DC was addressing a meeting of the agents of the various political parties in the Rajathadri auditorium at the DC’s office.
The DC instructed the counting agents that on the counting day they should be present at the centre from 6.30 in the morning. The agent will not be allowed to enter the counting centre without the identity card issued by the Election Commission. Mobiles were not allowed inside the counting centre. The counting agent should be present at the table allotted to him at 7.30 AM. The counting agents are not allowed to roam around the counting centre unnecessarily. They will not be allowed to go out of the counting centre until the results were announced.
Counting of the postal ballots would start at 8 AM in the presence of the election observers. Only the counting agents appointed for that table are allowed in that room. Only the candidates and their respective agents will be given entry into all the vote counting rooms, said the DC.
Half an hour after the beginning of the postal vote counting, the voting machine counting will begin in different counting rooms allotted according to the assembly constituencies, said the DC.
After the final round of counting, in every assembly constituency, five polling booths will be selected through lots and their VVPAT paper slips would be counted. After that, with the permission of the election observers, results would be announced informed the DC.
Additional DC Vidyakumari and representatives of different political parties were also present at the meeting.
