Udupi: "There is no doubt in development of villages if it has temple-like libraries. Shantiniketan's youth are working in such a rural area by building a library to create awareness of literacy," litterateur Shekhar Ajekar said here on Sunday March 28.
He was speaking after the inauguration of the Shantiniketan Library of Shantiniketan Yuva Vrinda, Kudibailu Kucchuru.
Lion Ramesh Acharya, the chief guest, said that it is a common thing to have a library in schools and colleges. But an organization voluntarily setting up a library in the rural area and inculcating reading habits among the rural people is appreciable, he said.
Rajesh, who presided over the program, said, "We have had a lot of problems during our education, which the future students should not face, he opined.
Association members donated more than 300 books to the library. Over 50000 books for graduate, pre-university, competitive examination are available.
