Udupi: D K Shivakumar’s arrest is subject to the law. According to the Constitution, the Congress has all the right to protest but the BJP strongly condemns the burning of effigies of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, said Minister of Fisheries, Port and Inland Transport Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Speaking to media persons at the Press Club in Udupi on Thursday, September 5, Kota Srinivas Poojary said the BJP also condemns the violent protests staged by Congress party workers after Shivakumar’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials.
Warning the Congress cadre, Poojary said, “The BJP knows how to respond if the Congress continues to burn effigies of PM Modi and Amit Shah.”
“If D K Shivakumar has suffered any injustice by the ED, let him approach the Supreme Court,” he added.
Poojary further said, “The IT Department had arrested Jagan Mohan Reddy and Janardhan Reddy but no one acted like the Congress. The BJP will not tolerate the damaging of buses and pelting of stones or any such violent activities.”
“We are not responsible for the arrest of Congress leader D K Shivakumar,” he added before issuing another warning to the Congress party workers against carrying out illegal activities.
