Karkala : State Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has informed that it would take three more years for the underground drainage project in Karkala TMC limits to be complete, provided the required land is handed over to the Drainage Board.
Replying to a question from Chief Whip of Opposition and Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar in the Assembly, the Minister said a sum of Rs 18.66 crore has been allocated for the project during the 2014-15 budget of the Karnataka Water Supply and Underground Drainage Board. As per the draft project report prepared by the Board the total project cost would be Rs 55.85 crores., he informed.
As many as 18 sewage treatment plants need to be constructed in accordance to the geographical conditions of the town, he said and added that the TMC has been requested to hand over the required land for the treatment plants.
