Udupi: Heavy rainfall and strong winds in the district over the last two days caused by a depression over the Arabian Sea has led to the death of two persons in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, Sulochana (42), the wife of Chandrashekar and resident of Kurlaly near Kunajargiri of the Kaup taluk, went out on October 24 evening and was washed away by the flood waters.

In another incident, a rickshaw driver from Kukkehalli, Ravindra Kulal (35) died on the spot when a tree fell on him at around 1 PM in Santajedu of the Udupi taluk. He was taking shelter from the rain when the incident occurred.

Kulal was taking shelter as he was not able to see the road because of the heavy rains, according to Kukkehalli village accountant Guruprasad.
