Udupi: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who had come to Udupi for Ayurvedic ‘Panchakarma’ treatment has cut short the treatment to return to Bengaluru.

“I had come to Udupi to take Ayurvedic treatment as my health has deteriorated. But I am deeply hurt by the Sri Lanka terror attack. My close associates have lost their lives in the bomb blast. I had to take treatment for five days in Kaup but I am not able to stay after getting the news of the death of five of my party leaders. I have discussed about this with my doctors. They have asked me to come back for treatment after April 27. I have postponed my treatment to resume duty,” said CM Kumaraswamy.

“It is an extremely heinous incident. More than 300 people have lost their lives in the attack. People belonging to Karnataka have also been killed. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. I pray God to give them strength to endure the pain of their loss. The five Janata Dal (S) party leaders who lost their lives in the blast were like the pillars of the party and also very dear to me. Hanumantharayappa, Ranganna, Shivanna, Lakshminarayana and Ramesh were sincere workers and social activists,” added HDK.

“The party’s chief secretaries have been directed to be in constant touch with the ministry of Sri Lanka. Seven bodies have been identified. We have requested the Sri Lankan government to complete all the formalities as soon as possible and we are trying to bring the bodies within 24 hours. We are expecting the mortal remains to be brought back by tomorrow morning,” said Kumaraswamy.
