Kundapur: Former MLA and veteran politician Winnifred Fernandes of the Kundapur Assembly constituency passed away on Tuesday, April 28 at the age of 92. She passed away due to age-related illness.
The veteran politician is survived by three sons (Alfred, Wilfred, and Josfred) and three daughters (Marriott, Harriet, and Shawlett).
According to family sources, her funeral will be held on April 30.
Known as a bold-faced politician, Winnifred Fernandes served as a lawmaker twice.
The first time she became an MLA was when she contested on the Praja Socialist Party’s ticket.
She had also served as president of the Kundapur City Council and later became an MLA after contesting on the Congress party’s ticket.
Winnifred Fernandes also served as a Member of the Legislative Council in Karnataka.
