Fisherman drowns to death in Chakranadi River

Kundapur: A fisherman drowned at Chakranadi River, after he lost balance while throwing the fishing net on Tuesday July 1, here at Gangolli.

The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Shantaram, a resident of Bagavady.

Reportedly Shantaram along with his two brothers had been to Chakravadi River to fish, when he fell off, panicked by the situation the brothers raised an alarm. On an instant the local and the policemen came to their rescue.

However by then, Shantaram was washed away, by the heavy currents of the river. Later, the fire personnel retrieved his body.

Shantaram was working as a waiter at a hotel in Badami. He had come back to his hometown just two months ago..

A case has been registered at Gangolli police station and the body was later shifted to the government hospital.
