Environmental conservation is possible by safeguarding natural resources: C M Joshi

Udupi: “Environmental conservation is possible only if we, the humans, do not exploit the natural resources but use them in limit,” said District Court Judge and Legal Services Authority District President C M Joshi.

C M Joshi, on Wednesday, June 5, inaugurated the World Environment Day at the Ramesh Mahabala Shetty Sabha Bhavan in Padubidri, held by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, the District Administration, District Legal Services Authority, Public Instruction Department, Tourism Department, Coastal Development Authority and the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Udupi.

Speaking on the occasion, C M Joshi said, “The culture of this country has always taught us not to exploit the natural resources. We have to make limited use of them. We do not have any right to exploit the natural resources for our luxury. We should not only use the nature for our necessities, but should make it a habit to contribute something from our side also.”

“Udupi District Administration’s decision of using public transport and directing the educational institutions not to use air conditioners for one day in a week, is a welcome move. It is everybody’s duty not to litter in public places and avoid using plastic bags,” he added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, Vidya Kumari presided over the event.

Senior Civil Judge and Legal Services Authority District Secretary Kaveri, Kaup Tahsildar Rashmi, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Sheshashayana Karanji, Udupi Block Education Officer (BEO) Manjula, Padubidri Police Sub Inspector Subbanna and UPCL President Kishore Alva were present during the event.

District Environment Officer Dr. Lakshmikanth addressed the gathering. Assistant Environment Officer delivered the welcome speech and Deepa Udupa compered.

A ‘Parisara Jatha’ was held from Hejamadi Toll Gate to mark the World Environment Day. Prizes were distributed to the winners of drawing and painting competitions which were held on the occasion.
