Udupi: Former Municipal President and Billava leader Kiran Kumar has alleged that all five MLAs of the district have written to the BJP leaders to prevent Kota Srinivas Poojary from taking charge of the Udupi district.

He was addressing a conference at the Udupi Press Club on Tuesday, September 17.

“We are not blaming anyone. We only want to clarify whether this news is true. If such an attempt has indeed been made, the legislators should demand that Kota Srinivas Poojary be given charge of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. He can afford to be in charge of both the districts,” he said.

Billava Parishad leader Achyth Amin said that minister Poojary was put in charge of the Dakshina Kannada district, which is adjacent to the Udupi district, in order to politically extinguish the Billava community. “Kota Srinivas Poojary is capable of being in charge of the Udupi district. The Billava Parishad demands that the minister be made in charge of this district,” he said.

BJP leader B Shanker Poojary said that, in the next few days, if any of the five MLAs gets a ministerial berth, let them be given charge of the district. “We will meet all the five MLAs of the district and place our demands before them. Else, the Billava community leaders will meet on September 19 to decide the next move,” he said.

Billava Parishad district president Naveen Amin, Praveen Poojary, Sudhakar Poojary, Ajith Poojary and others were present.
