Udupi: Udupi district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and members handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati to submit it to the Governor of Karnataka, on Monday, May 6 at the DC office here in Rajathadri. The BJP leaders have stated in the memorandum that Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition government has been involved in atrocities against BJP activists since several months and no action has been taken by the government.

It is also stated that the state government has not taken any action on Belur Gopalakrishna for his statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and on JDS MLA Narayana Gowda for his direct threat to actors Yash and Darshan. However, the police are filing cases against BJP activists for speaking against the coalition government, and this has created an atmosphere of fear among the party workers.

It is further stated “Chief Minister Kumaraswamy is criticizing media representatives and making statements against the media which is a threat to democracy. As per the direction of Home Minister M B Patil, the CID cyber police are raiding BJP activists and arresting them”.

It is stated “The CID cyber cell police have arrested and filed major cases against journalist Hemanth Kumar, Mahesh Vikram Hegde, Sharadha Daimond and Ajith Shetty Heranje for their posts in the social media against the coalition government. Though some cases have been filed against the congress activists as well, they have been released but the BJP activists are still in jail”.
