Udupi: Pontiff of the Pejawar Adhokshaja Matha, Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji has expressed his support of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2019 passed in the Parliament.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, December 12, he said, “I strongly support the bill. Is it ethical to neglect Hindus from Bangladesh who wish to live in India? Is it right to neglect those who are not protected, looked after or not allowed to live in any country or in India? This does not apply to Muslims, as they have a lot of ways and opportunities to live in Islamic countries. This bill should be seen from the point of view of humanity. When Muslims have Islamic countries, Hindus have only India.”
“It is clear that this bill will not adversely affect the Muslims or the Hindus of this country. No injustice will be done to Muslims. The bill will also not affect Muslims living in other countries,” he added.
It can be recalled that the CAB was passed in Lok Sabha on Monday, December 10, after an intense debate which went on for hours. It also got cleared in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, December 11.
