Udupi: In response to the bundh call given by the Bahujan Kranti Morcha against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), some parts of the Udupi district wore a deserted look on Wednesday, January 29.
In some parts of Udupi city, shop shutters were allegedly pulled down forcefully while in Kaup, Belapu, Gangolli and other parts of the district, some merchants voluntarily closed their shops in response to the bundh call. All kinds of activities came to a standstill in these areas.
Some tourist cars and autorickshaws also did not ply on the roads.
Meanwhile, a huge anti-CAA protest is being organized by some organizations under the aegis of the Sahabalve organization and will be held in Udupi on Thursday, January 30, at the Mission Compound from 4 pm. The proposed padayatra has been cancelled the police department has not granted their permission for the same.
