Udupi: The Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra was held in Udupi on Thursday, October 24. It was followed by a march from the Azzarakkadu Bhujanga Park to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and proceeded to the chariot road of the Sri Krishna Math in Udupi.
Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, who participated in yatra, said, “Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates Gandhiji’s dream of self-reliance, a campaign to raise awareness and to remind the people of Gandhi’s idea of self-rule.”
Approximately 2500 students participated in this yatra.
Udupi-Chikkamagalur MP Shobha Karandlajee led the yatra, during which MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Udupi district BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Zilla Panchayat president Dinakar Babu, Taluk Panchayat president Nitta Gururaj Poojary and state-level party members, members of the ZP and TP and various activists of the party were present.
