Bhatkal: Bhatkal Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Valentine D’Souza was recently conferred the President’s Police Medal for his distinguished service to the department. He was one of four senior police officers who were chosen for the honour.
The medal was conferred on him by Governor Vajubhai Vala in the presence of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Director General and Inspector General of Police Neelamani N Raju.
An announcement in this regard was made by state additional director general of Police, Dr M S Parashivamurthy.
The other recipients are Uday Nayak, Vinay A Gaonkar and Sudhir Hegde.
Valentine D’Souza, an officer of KSP 1994 batch, had served as Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) in Bhatkal following which he was promoted as Circle Police Inspector (CPI) in 2002-2003. He was posted in Bhatkal for almost a year and a half.
Before being posted as DySP in Bhatkal, Valentine was an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the Mangaluru City Crime Branch and had headed key investigations.
He was DySP of Bhatkal since March of 2018 and had made remarkable progress in maintaining law and order in the area. He also represented India at the International Natural Body Building Championship at Las Vegas, USA, where he won an award for Best Poser. He also won numerous awards for body building and many more for his social service.
