Udupi: In the landmark Bhaskar Shetty murder case of 2016, the Udupi District Court sentenced three accused to life imprisonment on Tuesday. Bhaskar Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari Shetty, son Navneet Shetty, and astrologer Niranjan Bhat are among the accused.
Judge Subramanya JS of the District Court pronounced the verdict. Raghuvendra, who was accused of destroying evidence in the case, was acquitted by the Court.
Shantaram Shetty, Special Government Prosecutor, spoke on behalf of the prosecution.
Rajeshwari Shetty, the case’s prime accused, is currently on bail, while Navneet and Niranjan are jailed in Bengaluru. Niranjan Bhat’s father Srinivas Bhat, who was also accused of destroying evidence, died due to health concerns during the inquiry; he had been granted bail in the case.
