Udupi: The alternate darbar of the upcoming Sri Krishna Mutt Paryaya festival will be held at 3 pm instead of 2 am on January 18, this will enable devotees to view the alternate darbar, said Paryaya Admar Mutt Junior Pontiff Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji.

He was speaking at the preliminary consultation meeting held in the Udupi Puram Pragya Auditorium on Saturday, October 5.

This decision has been taken by devotees who are reportedly tired of witnessing an alternate procession, wanting to rest and worship the Swamiji. All of the pontiffs have agreed to this decision.

Emphasizing the use of natural materials, the Swamiji said that devotees will be made aware of the dangers of using plastic as the festival dinner will be served on banana leaves that have been grown in a 10-acre plot in Chara village.

On account of the Paryaya festival, a Hore Kanike procession will be held once in every fifteen days. The Swamiji said that this would ensure a comfortable quantity of offerings for the Sri Krishna deity.

He also informed the gathering that the Paryaya festival will be conducted with indifference to politics, religion, caste, or creed.

Afterwards, Paryaya Admar Mutt Senior Pontiff Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji said that new ideas will be adopted for the upcoming Paryaya festival. He announced that his disciple, Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji will undertake Krishna Seva indicating that he will be ascending the Admaru Paryaya. The Swamiji also said that his predecessor, Sri Vibudhesha Theertha Swamiji had given him a chance to do Krishna Seva from 2004 to 2006 in the previous Paryaya of Admar Mutt.

“This upcoming Paryaya, I will give a chance to my junior, Ishapriya Theertha Swami, who I believe is like my son, to do Krishna Seva. Devotees can worship Lord Krishna for the entire year by carrying a 15-day load,” he added.

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, and senior BJP leader A G Kodgi spoke during the occasion and offered their support for the upcoming Paryaya celebrations.

Earlier, Sri Krishna Seva President MB Puranik welcomed the gathering and former Principal Dr Jagdish Shetty compered the programme.

A large number of Sri Krishna devotees also participated in the meeting.
